Mascot: To-Be or Not-To-BE?
With all the new franchise concepts popping-up, one has to wonder, why no Mascots? Little Caesars as Caesar or a figure that represents itself to be the pizza-pizza man, Domino’s had the Noid, Jet’s has the Rocket Man, Howie’s has Howie, McDonald’s has Ronald and the Hamburgerler, but other long standing chains are sans mascot, Pizza Hut only a red roof, Papa John’s only John himself.
The Chipolte’s, Qdoba’s and a slew of new burger joints have launched Mascot free. Studies say that the new generation of Millennials are not interested in such things. One has to ask themselves, is that because they are sans children. Back in the 90’s when my children were young they loved every character that came at them, Barney, Ronald McD, Snoopy and Charlie Brown and the list goes on.
Cottage Inn has been tossing around the Mascot idea for a while. Sixty Five years young and still growing old school style (one store at a time), we have been tossing around a myriad of ideas, Professor Cottage, Cottage Girl, the Gourmet Family, Ian the Innstix and his dips, Mr. Inncredible, we have yet to launch any. So I am just sending a shout-out to anyone who would care to weigh-in. Mascot to be or not to be?
